Product Designer, Consumer Verticals

About the Team OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Consumer Verticals team explores how ChatGPT can become meaningfully more useful in important areas of people’s lives, including health, finance, and emerging agentic experiences. We work across research, engineering, product, design, and domain experts to turn increasingly capable models into intuitive, trustworthy consumer products. Our work combines the reach of ChatGPT with the depth required to serve distinct user needs responsibly. About the Role In this role, you’ll lead the end-to-end design of new consumer experiences across emerging verticals. You’ll explore how ChatGPT should adapt to different contexts, translate complex model capabilities into clear product interactions, and establish patterns that can scale across multiple domains. This is a highly generative, zero-to-one role. You’ll move between broad product vision and detailed interaction design, creating prototypes that help teams learn quickly and polished experiences that are ready to ship. You’ll also navigate domains where trust, accuracy, safety, and user agency are essential. This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
