Abuse Investigator - Scams & Fraud

The Intelligence and Investigations team supports this by identifying and investigating misuses of our products – especially new types of abuse. This enables our partner teams to develop data-backed product policies and build scaled safety mitigations. Precisely understanding abuse allows us to safely enable users to build useful things with our products. About the Role As an Abuse Investigator specializing in scams and fraud on the Intelligence and Investigations team, you will investigate misuse of OpenAI products that could deceive or defraud people and organizations. You will assess complex cases, distinguish harmful activity from legitimate use, and make well-supported recommendations for action. You will respond to time-sensitive issues and work with partners across the company as investigations evolve. This role calls for strong investigative judgment, technical fluency, and clear communication. In this role, you will: Investigate potential scams and fraud involving OpenAI products, including complex or coordinated activity, and document clear, defensible findings. Assess urgent and ambiguous cases, distinguish substantiated abuse from legitimate use, and recommend proportionate responses. Communicate findings, uncertainty and recommendations
